About Us

Brooke’s Hope is a 501 (c) (3) charitable organization which was founded to honor the memory of Brooke Keeney, beloved daughter of Charlena (Charlie) Keeney. Charlie is the Executive Director of Harmony Ridge Recovery Centers, which has 2 locations in West Virginia.  Brooke lost her life to a tragic fentanyl overdose at the age of 17. Brooke struggled with substance use disorder and dealt with the shame and stigma that can bring. Charlie would like to use her experience to help other families who are desperately trying to help their loved one find recovery and improve the resources available to families.  Brooke’s Hope was formed with the intention of helping families whose loved ones suffer from substance use disorders. It was nearly impossible to find the life saving resources that could have helped Brooke to find long term recovery due to her age.

How We Help

Brooke’s Hope has partnered with Shatterproof (https://www.shatterproof.org/) , a national not-for-profit that aims to shatter the stigma of addiction. Addiction stigma and discrimination experienced by people with substance use disorders lead to thousands of preventable deaths every year. Stigma prevents many from seeking treatment, erodes self-worth, fosters social isolation, and prevents the use of lifesaving medications. Shatterproof piloted a program in Pennsylvania (UnShame Pennsylvania) aimed at reducing stigma, and results have been very positive, which has led to UnShame campaigns being launched in a number of other states. Brooke’s Hope and Shatterproof are raising money to help bring the UnShame campaign to West Virginia.
